We are seeking an aggressive, creative storyteller who creates unique and shareable stories for all of our platforms. The ideal candidate will also have experience in weather forecasting and presenting accurate and informative weather forecasts on air and online. Responsibilities: Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in a developing or breaking news situation Develop story ideas Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise Identify, write, and produce stories in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility Maintain and develop sources who will help bring our reporting to the next level Write, produce, and shoot/edit on-air and online content within deadlines Use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content Write and post daily on digital platforms, including social media Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts on multiple platforms Produce clean, creative, and informative graphics to tell the weather story Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication or equivalent years of experience BA/BS degree in Meteorology a plus 3-5 years reporting experience required Strong understanding of AP style, including the ability to rapidly edit and rewrite stories Highly motivated individual with a creative and aggressive approach to driving digital and broadcast results Must be able to handle live breaking news situations and changing events calmly Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills Strong writing skills, production skills, and tease writing abilities ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics experience is preferred Proven social and digital content creation ability Pay Range: $36 - $39 USD TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental, and financial health of our employees and their families.
