THE POSITION
The Washington County Law Library is recruiting for variable hour Library Assistant positionsto join our small, but effective team. The role will help aid in the law library's mission to provide legal reference services and expand access to justice within our community.
A variable hour Library Assistant provides excellent internal and external customer service by providing basic legal reference assistance to a diverse community. This position maintains the welcoming environment of the Law Library with creative displays and ensures new materials are processed and available in a timely manner. The variable hour Library Assistant collects and compiles statistics and provides basic business administration tasks, such as bill payments under the direction of the Law Librarian. This position is a member of a small team and will require flexibility to provide coverage, occasionally working alone, and staffing outreach events outside normal business hours.
The ideal candidate is comfortable providing quality customer service to all individuals regardless of legal background. They will be a self-starter who is able to work independently. They are knowledgeable of legal databases and resources and can help others use them. They will seek opportunities to improve processes and be well-organized. They will also possess previous library experience, preferably within a law library.
Variable Hour positions are at-will and hours are limited to an average of 20 hours per week. These positions are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.
