JOB SUMMARY
Editor who can work semi-independently in a promotional agency environment with assigned brand teams to enforce quality control across core editorial functions (editing, fact checking, proofreading). Differs from Senior Editor role in that Editor may not necessarily be able to fully speak to FDA/regulatory matters or negotiate with team regarding timing or process matters, may not have launch experience, or may not be equipped to serve as a mentor to other Editorial staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Compliance: Helps ensuring and enforcing compliance with OPDP/regulatory guidelines.
- Communication: Ensures daily communication to update internal team members on all aspects of projects.
- Proofreading: Maintains version control, ensures project file integrity, and verifies that requested changes have been accurately incorporated across rounds of project routing.
- Editing: Ensure correct spelling, grammatical accuracy, adherence to AMA/brand style, and consistency across brand deliverables.
- Fact checking: Verify factual information in projects vs supporting references.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Copyediting, proofreading, and fact checking on assigned accounts as well as other accounts as needed.
- Uses technologic tools to replace manual proofreading as appropriate.
- Generates and promptly updates style guide for assigned accounts.
- Ability to quickly master specifics of assigned accounts and product categories, as well as accommodate multiple assignments effectively.
- Helps to enforce OPDP/regulatory guidelines.
- Exercises good evaluative and decision-making skills with appropriate follow-up.
- Establishes and communicates workload priorities to manager and second-shift staff.

EXPERIENCE
1 year Editorial experience in an agency environment or similar.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Style Guidelines: Demonstrates knowledge of AMA guidelines.
- Computer Skills: Editing, checking the spelling, text sizes, resolutions, color modes of graphics, review file separations, making any additional changes necessary to ensure proper and accurate printing.
- FDA Regulations: Familiarity with FDA regulations.

OTHER INFORMATION
Typical hours are 9:00am-5:00pm, but the position may require work beyond those hours, including after hours or weekends, as needed or directed.
Second Shift: Typical hours are 4pm–midnight, but the position may require work beyond those hours, including after hours or weekends, as needed or directed.
All candidates must complete brief copy editing, fact checking, and proofreading tests on site in conjunction with interview.
SALARY RANGE: $60,000 to $80,000 annually.
