To lead a team of video editors who can create a high volume of quality pieces for the IMG production of MLS Season Pass for Apple TV. To edit content that resonates with soccer audiences, and reflects the dynamic nature of MLS – from feature stories to match highlights.

The Role and What You’ll Do:

IMG seeks an experienced Lead Editor to lead post-production efforts for MLS Season Pass, managing the editing process and contributing to the overall creative direction.

The Lead Editor will assist the editorial team in crafting engaging, high-quality content for MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. This role requires exceptional editing skills, a deep understanding of soccer (particularly MLS), and the ability to work collaboratively with producers and other creative teams. The Lead Editor will oversee post-production workflows, ensuring all deliverables meet technical, creative, and client standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Editorial Leadership:

  • Lead the editing team in producing compelling content, including game highlights, features, promotional spots, and studio segments.
  • Lead the editorial workflow, ensuring consistency in storytelling, tone, and style.
  • Collaborate with producers and content creators to refine scripts, visuals, and narratives.

Post-Production Oversight:

  • Manage the editing schedule to ensure timely delivery of all assets, meeting client deadlines.
  • Maintain quality control over all edited content, ensuring adherence to technical and creative standards.
  • Implement and optimize post-production workflows to maximize efficiency and output quality.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to editing software, media storage, or other post-production tools.

Content Development:

  • Develop and execute creative approaches for storytelling, integrating graphics, music, and sound design.
  • Ensure edits reflect MLS Season Pass’s brand identity and Apple TV’s creative vision.
  • Monitor MLS games, identifying key storylines, moments, and trends to incorporate into edits.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Mentor and guide editors and assistant editors, fostering skill development and creativity.
  • Work closely with production, graphics, and sound teams to align on project goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to elevate the quality of their work.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as a key point of contact for client feedback on edited content, ensuring revisions are executed efficiently.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including freelancers and post-production vendors, to meet project needs.

You Have These:

Skills and Experience


Mandatory:

  • Extensive experience in video editing, particularly in sports content for live broadcasts or studio shows.
  • Advanced proficiency in AVID, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other industry-standard editing tools.
  • Strong understanding of soccer, specifically Major League Soccer (MLS), its teams, players, and storylines.
  • Proven ability to craft compelling narratives through editing, integrating visuals, audio, and graphics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing post-production workflows and delivering on tight deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience with color grading, sound mixing, and other advanced post-production techniques.
  • Knowledge of digital media formats and broadcast standards.

This role is based in Stamford, CT. The candidate should expect to be in the studio 4-5 days per week. Due to the nature of sports production, weekend work is required.
