JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Camera Operator / Producer
Department: IMG Studios
Main Purpose of Job: To film and produce regular feature content across the US and Canada, ensuring IMG is responsible for high quality creative material on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. To work with a small features team in bringing fresh and dynamic stories to life for core and casual MLS audiences.

Hours of Work: Average 40 hours per week; flexibility required for nights, weekends, and holidays due to sports production schedules.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Role and What You’ll Do:
The Camera Operator / Producer will work within a small features team to craft weekly stories that bring the culture of MLS, its teams, and players to life for soccer audiences. Proficient in filming as a single camera and working as part of a small and agile team – this role will bring a multi-skilled approach to producing feature stories of all types for multiple platforms each week. The ideal candidate will be a storyteller, have extensive experience in feature content, a keen eye for visual storytelling, and a strong understanding of soccer.
Production Oversight:
- Work closely with the Features Producer in planning, pre-production, and production of feature material created across the US and Canada throughout the season.
- Assist with the coordination of studio shoots, ensuring all elements meet creative and technical standards.
- Collaborate with producers, other editorial staff, and on-air talent to execute engaging, visually compelling programming.
- Maintain quality control over all studio production aspects, from visuals to audio.
Camera Operation:
- Operate features cameras, ensuring proper framing, focus, and execution of dynamic shots.
- Work closely with the Features Producer to align camera work with the overall vision of the production.
- Set up and adjust cameras, lighting, and other technical equipment for feature content.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Provide creative input during production meetings to enhance storytelling and visual presentation.
- Work with editors, graphics teams, and technical crews to ensure seamless integration of video and visual elements.
- Act as a liaison between on-air talent and the technical team to ensure clarity in production goals.
Content Development:
- Help identify key storylines, highlights, and statistics to integrate into programming.
- Stay updated on MLS news, teams, and players to contribute meaningfully to content planning.
- Utilize feedback from the production team to refine and enhance live broadcasts.
Technical and Logistical Management:
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report technical issues promptly.
- Coordinate with technical staff for troubleshooting during live broadcasts or rehearsals.
- Manage production timelines, ensuring all components are delivered on schedule.
You Have These:
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a self-starting camera operator in feature production.
- Strong understanding of soccer, its teams, players, and storylines.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in camera operation, including knowledge of framing, lighting, and audio setup.
- Technical proficiency in operating broadcast equipment and troubleshooting technical issues.
