FASHION INSTRUCTOR

The Fashion Group leader works closely with the Instructor to support instruction and teachings of Fashion education to youth K-5 and 6th-8th grade. The role requires the ability to work in a focused, center-based after-school classroom structure. The Fashion Instructor will teach drawing, sketching, portfolio development, design, cutting, assembling, and accessories among other fashion-centric modalities and teachings. The Instructor will facilitate course competencies with curriculum structure and proactively support creative facets of the learning environment, encouraging a culture of Fashion learning.


Pays $15.00-$20.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Progressively develop student skills leading to a final project.
  • Provide support during academic/homework hour.
  • Promote positive character development in all youth.
  • Set teaching goals for students.
  • Provide a fun, encouraging, and disciplined atmosphere.
  • Control and motivate groups of pupils.
  • Demonstrate leadership, dependability, patience, and concern for others.
  • Communicate course information to students and parents.
  • Provide structure for lesson planning and curriculum enhancement.
  • Attend occasional instructor meetings.
  • Communicate requested information to the Artistic Director in a timely manner.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
  • Track student attendance, including late arrivals and early departures to address any concerns.
  • Understand health and safety protocols.
  • Follow administrative and governmental safety and personnel policies, procedures, and ordinances.

  • The ability to sew and tailor.

  • Initiative, flexibility, patience, and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills (i.e., professional ability to attend to customer needs).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree or pursuit of a BA in College.
  • Background in Fashion, design, or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a youth-centered environment.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background check.
