Position: Music Instructor
The Music Instructor teaches and facilitates music instruction for educational youth K-5 or 6th-8th grade in a focused classroom structure. Music Instructors will instruct students in music applications, both theory and practice. They will provide students with an overview of the different aspects of music, including vocal and music creations. The instructor will transfer knowledge including theory, practical skills, methods, and techniques, imparting practical application of principles, techniques, and software. Teaching includes supervision of instructional activities, curriculum design, and course development, as well as the creation of teaching and instructional materials. Lessons will cover music, including significant musical time periods, and may include an introduction to some musical instruments, such as the keyboard. Pays $20.00-$25.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES: Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
Progressively develop student skills leading to a final project.
Provide support during academic/homework hour.
Promote positive character development in all youth.
Set teaching goals for students.
Provide a fun, encouraging, and disciplined atmosphere.
Control and motivate groups of pupils.
Demonstrate leadership, dependability, patience, and concern for others.
Communicate course information to students and parents.
Provide structure for lesson planning and curriculum enhancement.
Attend occasional instructor meetings.
Communicate requested information to the Artistic Director in a timely manner.
Track student attendance, including late arrivals and early departures to address any concerns.
Have an understanding of health and safety.
Follow administrative and governmental safety and personnel policies, procedures, and ordinances.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum education level: BA/BM in music education or music performance (preferred).
Minimum of two to three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferred.
Candidates who are qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are preferred.
Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background check.
