Job Responsibilities:

  1. Increase awareness of programs and services by providing relevant information and engagement to the public and internal audiences.
  2. Write, edit, proof, and route content for media including publications, speeches, messaging, and press releases.
  3. Manage social media including content creation, audience targeting, monitoring, analytics, and reporting.
  4. Work with contracted services for quality control, accessibility, media monitoring, and distribution.
  5. Create internal messaging and content for staff distribution via email and intranet.
  6. Perform duties related to content management systems for internal and public-facing websites.
  7. Occasional graphic and/or website design, photography, videography, and public speaking.
  8. Route media inquiries and requests.
  9. Assign, coordinate, and review research and communications.

What You'll Need to be Successful:

This position requires a seasoned Public Relations professional responsible for executing public affairs functions for a state agency. Key skills include strong writing ability, attention to detail, collaboration with a communications team, adaptability to change, and the ability to express complex processes in an engaging manner. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365, and online services for web monitoring and quality control is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-4 years of experience. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Communications or a related field, with 3-4 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a related functional area.
