Overview:
The Durham Bulls are seeking a Video Board Operator/Switcher interested in joining the most iconic brand in Minor League Baseball and gaining experience in the sports industry. This position will support the game operations team through in-park production to help create the best show in Minor League Baseball.

  • Video Board Operation:

    • Operate the video board switcher to manage live feeds, replays, graphics, and animations during games.
    • Seamlessly switch between camera feeds, video content, and pre-designed graphics as per the game-day script.
    • Monitor video board content for quality and accuracy in real time.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Director, Replay Operator, Xpression Operator, and other production staff to ensure smooth transitions and timely execution of all video board elements.
    • Follow cues and adapt to real-time changes during live events.
  • Content Management:

    • Assist in loading and organizing video assets, graphics, and sponsor content before games.
    • Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure all sponsor requirements are met.
  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance:

    • Assist in setting up and testing video switcher equipment and other related production gear before each game.
    • Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during live events to minimize disruptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in operating video switchers, such as NewTek Tricaster, Ross Carbonite, or similar systems.
    • Familiarity with live production workflows and stadium video board operations.
    • Basic knowledge of video editing and graphic design tools is a plus.
  • Sports Knowledge:

    • Understanding of baseball rules, gameplay, and terminology to anticipate content needs during the game.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, live environment.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the production team.
    • Adaptability to real-time changes and unexpected situations during live events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with live video production and switching in sports or live event settings.
  • Proficiency with Ross Carbonite, NewTek Tricaster, or similar switcher systems.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing tools such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
  • Previous experience in sports production, particularly baseball, is highly preferred.

  • Stationary Work:
    • Primarily seated at a workstation for extended periods while operating the switcher.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    • Frequent use of hands for operating switchers, keyboards, and other production equipment.
  • Visual Focus:
    • High attention to detail for monitoring and managing multiple video feeds simultaneously.

    • Must be available for all Durham Bulls home games, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    • Maintain focus and composure in a high-energy environment.
