Overview:

The Durham Bulls are seeking a Video Board Xpression Operator interested in joining the most iconic brand in Minor League Baseball and gaining experience in the sports industry. This position will support the game operations team through in-park production to help create the best show in Minor League Baseball.

The ideal candidate is someone with experience in a live sports control room and event production that has light programming knowledge and basic graphic creation knowledge.

  • Graphics Operation:

    • Operate the Xpression graphics system to display real-time game statistics, player profiles, sponsor content, and other graphics on the video board.
    • Ensure all content is accurate, visually appealing, and timed correctly during live events.
    • Update and manage templates, animations, and layouts as needed.
  • Game-Day Execution:

    • Follow scripts and cues to display the appropriate graphics during pregame, in-game, and postgame activities.
    • Collaborate with the game-day director and production team to coordinate seamless video board operations.
    • Adjust content in response to real-time events, such as game delays, player substitutions, or fan interactions.
  • Content Preparation:

    • Test and load graphics, animations, and videos prior to each game to ensure smooth playback.
    • Maintain an organized library of game-day assets and ensure compliance with branding and sponsor guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting:

    • Identify and resolve technical issues with the Xpression system or related equipment during live events.
    • Work closely with the production team to minimize disruptions to game-day operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with Ross Xpression graphics software or similar systems is required.
    • Strong understanding of live sports production workflows and video board operations.
    • Familiarity with video editing and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, After Effects) is a plus.
  • Baseball Knowledge:

    • Understanding of baseball rules and terminology to anticipate graphics needs during the game.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to take direction effectively.
    • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering an exceptional fan experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Ross Xpression graphics systems and experience creating, managing, and operating live graphics in a sports or live event setting.
  • Prior experience working in live sports production or event management, especially with a focus on video board operations.
  • Experience with other production software, such as NewTek Tricaster, Daktronics systems, or video editing tools, is a plus.

    • Primarily seated at a workstation for extended periods while operating the Xpression system.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    • Frequent use of hands for operating keyboards, controllers, and other production equipment.

    • High attention to detail for monitoring video board content and ensuring graphic accuracy.

    • Must be available for all Durham Bulls home games, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    • Maintain focus and composure in a high-energy, noisy environment.
