MARKETING ASSISTANT, MIT Press

To provide overall administrative support to the Marketing Department including:

  1. Mailings
  2. Email triaging
  3. Facilitating review copy distribution
  4. Collecting and submitting invoices
  5. Creating purchase orders
  6. Interfacing with vendors for marketing campaigns
  7. Submitting titles to industry trade media for notification and potential review (Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Booklist, Shelf Awareness, Foreword Reviews, Choice)
  8. Assisting in seasonal scheduling and planning
  9. Distributing marketing materials and circulating marketing plans
  10. Scheduling departmental meetings
  11. Circulating cover copy and endorsements for approval
  12. Uploading marketing copy, endorsements, and author bios into title management systems
  13. Formatting marketing materials and making routine edits in print and digital materials
  14. Facilitating the Press's award submission process for MIT Press authors/titles
  15. Approving and managing textbook exam copy requests from academic instructors

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of administrative experience
  • Good organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to convey routine, prescribed information to others

Experience in publishing and/or marketing preferred. Experience with professional title management systems like Penguin Random House's MyHouse and/or Biblio, proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel), Adobe Acrobat, Airtable, FileMaker, and an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is also preferred.

This hybrid role requires in-office presence three days per week in Cambridge, MA.
