Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of children and youth; promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to campers; promotes and stimulates camper participation; coordinates and leads campers through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; supervises campers during unscheduled program time and evenings; ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled activities and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
- Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience.
- Coordinates and leads youth through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility.
- Lives with a group of campers and helps each camper adjust and get to know other campers and camp life.
- Maintains compliance with camp rules and safety regulations.
- Prepares for and leads rainy day activities as needed.
- Inspects fire extinguishers and reports to Head Counselor if any extinguisher has been dispensed.
- Ensures that all cleaning solutions are locked up except during use.
- Maintains adequate space in cabins for freedom of movement and emergency exits.
- Stays in cabin with campers at night and ensures proper supervision.
- Keeps door to your room open at night for order maintenance.
- Maintains an incident report book for each camp session.
- May be asked to teach a class according to your experiences or expertise.
- Handles cleanliness of cabins and camp facilities.
- Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in a safe and healthy manner.
- Ensures safety in utilizing supplies and materials for activities.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports.
- Participates enthusiastically in evening programs and camp functions.
- Assists in cleaning the cabins, kitchen, tables, floors, etc.
- Prepares and serves snacks and meals, ensuring a positive atmosphere during mealtime.
Music Instructor Duties:
- Provides quality music instruction to campers.
- Teaches music theory appropriate for playing purposes.
- Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
- Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students.
- Participates and assists in various classes as assigned.
- Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through activities.
What we are looking for in you:
- Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred; six months experience teaching music education preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Some physical requirements include endurance, climbing, standing, bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours is necessary.
