As a smaller company, most of us wear many hats. This means your job will include plenty of variety and will often require performing numerous smaller tasks in a single day.

Our culture is relaxed and flexible, but also hard-working. Employees work remotely with partial core hours. Our client base is primarily B2B businesses located locally and throughout the U.S.

Full Job Description

The SEO Expert/Digital Marketing Specialist will manage client relationships and perform digital marketing tasks. The successful specialist will be responsible for planning, performing, and sometimes delegating numerous tasks. Approximately 75% of the work is focused on organic SEO for websites, with a smaller percentage for Paid Social Media, PPC, and Local Search campaigns. In addition, the specialist will work with selected clients as their primary contact and project manager. This team member will review the client’s digital performance, discuss strategy, make recommendations, and ensure completion of project requirements. This is a growth-oriented position.

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Contact / Client Project Manager

  • Consult and collaborate with clients about their digital marketing services to drive brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation
  • Lead client meetings to review deliverables and results at specified intervals
  • Collaborate with and delegate tasks to team members
  • Be aware of and promote inside sales; upsell services

Organic website SEO Specific – 75% of this role

  • Create and implement SEO strategies to enhance website visibility and performance, including:
    • keyword research and analysis
    • website optimization
    • backlink acquisition
    • copywriting and editing
    • writing blog posts on behalf of clients
  • Monitor and analyze SEO performance; adjust strategies for optimal results
  • Build and maintain custom digital marketing reports
  • Implement custom schema markup for SEO clients
  • Create engaging content for blogs and website pages that align with the brand’s voice and marketing objectives
  • Perform basic content updates on WordPress websites

PPC and Paid Social Media Marketing Specific – 25% or less of this role

  • Coordinate, implement, and manage PPC campaigns on Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Taboola, and other platforms
  • Create campaigns and ads in a variety of formats including display, search, video, and native ads
  • Craft visually appealing ad creatives that align with the brand’s voice and engage the target audience. Focus on driving brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation.
  • Monitor ad spend, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
  • Analyze campaign performance to refine and optimize strategies, and to expand audiences for greater effectiveness and optimal ROI.

Required Skills, Experience & Education

Must have:

  • You must live in the state of Michigan – this is not negotiable
  • Strong understanding of organic SEO as it applies to websites
  • Some understanding of PPC and Display Advertising
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience applying organic SEO strategies to websites
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in PPC on Google and Microsoft platforms
  • Some paid social media marketing using Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Google Ads Certification, or willingness to acquire
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in digital marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Superior communication skills: writing, editing, and verbal
  • Excellent planning, organization, project management, and time management skills to manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Detail oriented and comfortable with numbers and data when creating campaigns or tracking results
  • Intuitive when learning new software or processes
  • Self-starter, self-disciplined and driven; especially when working in a remote environment
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Search Console, and Google My Business Profile
  • Knowledge of SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Moz or similar SEO tools
  • Experience in customer service or a client-facing role, managing smaller projects
  • MS Excel OR Google Sheets experience, including formulas and macros
  • Open-minded approach to rapidly changing technologies
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative ideas and strategies

Nice to have:

  • Certification in SEO
  • Experience in local search optimization
  • Agency experience a big plus
  • Experience with ClickUp or similar project management software

Compensation:

  • $45,000-$55,000 annually based on experience & qualifications
