Role Overview

Contemporary experimental design is core to our identity, driving a unique visual presence across all platforms and products. We're seeking a Lead Designer to lead our multi-disciplinary design team across digital and physical products. Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, this role will oversee design operations spanning web applications, fashion merchandise, and experiential design while maintaining our distinct visual identity. The position requires a unique blend of creative leadership, technical expertise, and cross-cultural management capabilities.


Position Context

  • Direct report to Executive Creative Director with significant creative autonomy
  • Leads multinational design teams across US and Korea offices
  • Manages diverse creative disciplines including UX/UI, graphic design, and 3D animation
  • Maintains cohesive brand identity across multiple channels and touchpoints
  • Operates at intersection of digital products and physical merchandise
  • Bridges cultural and creative perspectives between US and Korean teams


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Creative Direction

  • Define and evolve the company's visual identity across all platforms and products
  • Lead creative strategy for digital products, merchandise, and brand experiences
  • Develop comprehensive brand systems that scale across multiple sub-brands
  • Guide creative decision-making for both physical and digital product lines
  • Align design direction with business objectives and market trends
  • Anticipate and respond to emerging design and cultural trends


Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and mentor design teams across US and Korea offices
  • Build and maintain high-performing creative teams across multiple disciplines
  • Provide clear creative direction and constructive feedback
  • Foster collaboration between UX/UI, graphic, and 3D design teams
  • Develop career growth paths for design team members
  • Create opportunities for skill development and creative exploration
  • Balance workload across international team structure

Design Operations & Execution

  • Establish and maintain design systems and documentation
  • Implement efficient design review and approval processes
  • Coordinate design projects between US and Korea teams

  • Oversee design production workflows for digital and physical products
  • Maintain design excellence while meeting business timelines
  • Optimize resource allocation across multiple project streams

Required Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of professional design experience
  • 3+ years in design leadership roles
  • Fluent in Korean and English (verbal and written)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating contemporary design excellence
  • Experience managing multiple sub-brands and design systems
  • Track record of maintaining brand consistency at scale
  • Background in both digital and physical product design
  • Deep understanding of current design trends and youth culture

Technical Requirements

  • Expert proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong knowledge of digital product design principles
  • Experience with print production and packaging design
  • Some familiarity with 3D design tools and animation workflows
  • Expertise in design systems creation and documentation
  • Proficiency in project management tools
  • Understanding of design QA and review processes

Location & Team Structure

  • Based in Orange County, California
  • Works out of office 5 days per week in Irvine, California
  • Reports to Executive Creative Director
  • Manages team of UX/UI designers, graphic designers, technical illustrators, and 3D animators in California and Korea
  • Regular collaboration with Korea office
  • Flexibility to coordinate across time zones
