About the Role This is a Communications role, based in New York, which will assist and report to the Head of Communications, US.
Communications sits within the wider Corporate Affairs team which plays a crucial role in supporting the business globally, working with journalists, authors, brands, colleagues and the larger community to highlight our corporate messages in the media; and strengthening our brands through various media activities, events and coverage.
We're looking for an adaptable, proactive and enthusiastic individual with creative ideas and strong organizational, research and writing skills. This individual will also demonstrate a solid interest in public relations or communications. Basic knowledge of media relations and the science sector is an advantage.
Role Responsibilities: Support the Head of Communications, USto draft pitches and to write and edit press releases on business activity
Assist with distributing press releases to US and international media and generatingmedia coverage
Coordinate with organizations, institutions and others on communications activities
Build, maintain and update media contacts and distribution lists
Monitor press coverage and analytics, providing data and coverage results as requested
Update company website
Maintain calendar of countrywide events for communications planning
Assist with execution of communications plans and events
Prepare presentation slidesand provide support for press briefings
Support with organization and research
Other duties as required
Experience, Skills & Qualifications: Liberal arts or Science degree
Relevant experience
Excellent English-language skillswith excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of journalistic skills (researching, writing,) with the ability to handlea diverse array of topics
Interest in communications within a global context
Knowledge of the international media landscape
Organised approach
Interest in current events and topics (social, political, scientific)
Excellent interpersonal skills and multicultural awareness
