Public Relations Manager

The Public Relations Manager will develop and implement PR and influencer campaigns targeting Asian American media outlets and diverse consumer audiences. This role combines corporate communications, public affairs, requiring expertise in AAPI cultures, lived experiences, issues, and a network of press and influencers in multicultural beats. Knowledge of current affairs, public policies, retail, fast food, and franchise industries is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of PR on strategic communications, account management, reporting, and creative initiatives.
  • Develop and execute multiple PR and influencer campaigns with a focus on strategic thinking, resourcefulness, and creativity.
  • Craft compelling narratives and pitch stories to secure placements in Asian American and general market media outlets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media and influencers, curating comprehensive contact lists.
  • Create impactful presentation decks and pitch materials to support storytelling efforts.
  • Act as the AAPI community and culture subject matter expert for clients.
  • Monitor industry trends, media landscapes, and pop culture to inform strategy.
  • Contribute to brand initiatives and campaigns for the company.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, with at least 3 years in a PR agency.
  • Demonstrated success in media and influencer relations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong client relations, organizational, and workflow management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including copy editing.
  • Deep understanding of Asian American communities and multicultural audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with press and QSR (quick service restaurant) industries.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, X) and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva).
  • Basic audio and video editing skills for social media posts.
  • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT in a professional setting.
  • Fluency in an Asian language (reading and writing) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

  • Knowledge and appreciation for corporate communications, public affairs, retail, fast food, and franchise industries.

HYBRID WORK MODEL:

  • IW Group has adopted a hybrid work model. Teams are required to work in-office at least twice per week.
  • While performing the responsibilities of this role, the employee will spend most of the time working indoors, in the IW Group office, client office or other identified location.
  • This role may require extended work hours (including weekends) to complete certain projects, with or without advance notice.
  • This role may require work outside of the office (i.e., client events) or travel outside of the local work area (i.e., national or international client locations).
