Chief Editor and Project ManagerAkoya is seeking a Chief Editor and Project Manager to join our team supporting the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). WPTO enables research, development, and testing of emerging technologies to advance marine energy as well as next-generation hydropower and pumped storage systems for a flexible, reliable grid. Our strategic engagement and outreach support services contribute to WPTO’s mission.
The Chief Editor and Project Manager supporting WPTO will be responsible for:
- Writing, editing, and project management of a wide range of communications materials and projects, including newsletters, up to 400-page reports, announcements, website articles, emails, presentation decks, senior leadership talking points, and more.
- Managing a high number of complex client communications projects.
- Developing comprehensive production schedules, ensuring the team meets all milestones and deadlines, and editing these materials to ensure the highest quality.
- Developing and nurturing strong client relationships in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing client needs.
- Minimum of seven years of professional experience and a bachelor’s degree, five years of experience and a master’s degree or three years of experience and a PhD.
- U.S. citizenship is required with verbal and written fluency in English.
- Must be able to receive and maintain a federal security clearance (public trust level).
- Must have experience in the energy sector with a proven ability to communicate complex technical topics to nontechnical audiences.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and a passion for exceptional client service.
- Must have technical editing expertise.
- Must be based in Washington, D.C. – This role will have to report to client locations up to five days per week.
- Strongly prefer federal contracting experience.
- Base compensation: $104,000 to $113,000. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as location, education, years of experience, and candidate skillset.
