Requirements:
The Rescue Mission is seeking a Fulltime Grant Writer to work on our Main Campus in Syracuse, NY. The Grant Coordinator is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals/reports that support agency goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. This person serves as the primary grant writer, assists in managing funder relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, and project management skills, with an emphasis on clear writing and outcome measurement.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Research various types of grants available (Federal, State, local, philanthropic, and other private groups) and the criteria to qualify for each grant that fit the Rescue Mission's vision and values, as well as funding needs. Create Grant Briefs for Grants Management Meetings.
- Serve as the lead staff person preparing and running standing Grants Management Meetings and contribute to strategy and planning on all grant applications.
- Communicate proposal strategies and progress. Compile necessary information for the application through collaboration with employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
- Draft and complete grant applications according to application requirements. Prepare narratives, complete forms, and coordinate application components with appropriate teams.
- Ensure grants are submitted on time and within application parameters.
- Develop and maintain funder relationships before, during, and after the grant process.
- Upon award, create Contract Briefs and maintain a reporting calendar.
- Monitor post-award activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, requirements, and reporting.
- Develop a deep understanding of program content - understanding needs in relation to Programs, Social Enterprise, General Operations, and Rescue Mission's relationships with the communities we work in.
- Conduct regular reviews of Rescue Mission data (internal Program databases), an analysis of agency/client needs and gaps in service, in addition to a review of community data/reports that can be used in grant applications or by the Communications Team to support Rescue Mission strategic efforts.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
- Promote a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years working as a grant writer/contract manager/communications professional.
- Prior experience with grant writing, research, and outcome measurement.
- Ability to relate to people in a warm and friendly manner.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism in all activities.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company policy.
- The ability to write clearly, concisely, and effectively, as well as being a strong editor and proofreader.
Pay:
$60,406 annually.
