Instructor of Practice in Advertising (2 Openings)

Marquette University’s Diederich College of Communication seeks two experienced advertising professionals for non-tenure track faculty positions in our Advertising program. Beginning August 11, 2025, the ideal candidates will bring extensive industry expertise to the classroom, shaping the next generation of advertising leaders.

We seek engaged teachers—active in both the profession and community—who demonstrate a passion for and an awareness of industry trends and the digital innovations that permeate the field. Candidates should be able to teach courses full-time across the advertising curriculum and may teach courses in their area of expertise at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Beyond teaching, candidates should expect to support student engagement efforts including student recruitment, student co-curricular activities, and student advising.

Program and College Overview

Housed within the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication, the nationally recognized Advertising program at Marquette University blends strategic and creative aspects of brand promotion with business analytics. Our curriculum is both conceptual and applied, providing students with a strong foundation in content ideation, copywriting, account planning, design, media strategy, and campaign development.

The Diederich College of Communication includes the departments of Communication Studies, Digital Media and Performing Arts, Journalism and Media Studies, and Strategic Communication. A transformational $28 million gift from the Diedrich family funded the renovation of historic Johnston Hall, which houses the College. This renewal furnished Johnston Hall with state-of-the-art laboratory and studio technology. The College has a strong commitment to achieving diversity and is actively working on goals established in its Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion plan. The college strongly encourages women and members of underrepresented groups to apply.
