Job Description:
The Tony-award winning UTAH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, a professional theater company in residence at Southern Utah University, is accepting applications for Production Staff for the 2025 season. The Utah Shakespeare Festival produces a six-show repertory season and three Green Shows across three venues in the summer/fall of each year. Position details below.
Assistant Charge Artist
Work begins April 22nd through the end of June 2024.
Pay: $18/hr, shared housing with private room provided, time and a half for any overtime worked.
Responsibilities and Experience Requirements:
- Assists charge artist with overseeing assigned scenic artists, scenic application of texture, three-dimensional sculpting, and scenery painting for assigned productions.
- Coordinates with Scenic Charge on scheduling, techniques used, purchasing of supplies and equipment.
- Intermediate and advanced experience with scenic painting and finishing or related fields. Experience with foam carving highly encouraged.
- Must be comfortable using ladders, scaffolding, and personnel lifts. Basic knowledge of typical scenery and paint specific tools.
- Experience leading crews of scenic artists. Confident in developing paint and finishing techniques for theatrical scenery.
