As a Telecommunications Operator, you will operate radio, telephone, and computer equipment to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. You'll be the first point of contact for individuals in need, relaying vital information to law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel. Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and process 911 emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch police, fire, public works, and emergency response personnel as needed.
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to log service calls.
- Monitor security cameras and access systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by interfacing with the public and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Process driver's license and automobile tag histories for officers.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of related experience or training.
- Possession or ability to earn certification from the Texas Department of Public Safety in TCIC/NCIC operations within six months of employment.
- License or the ability to be licensed as a Basic Telecommunications Operator by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
- Valid Texas driver's license.
