ADJUNCT FACULTY - ENGLISH & LITERATURE, Undergraduate Online

University of Northwestern – St. Paul is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach undergraduate online courses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate courses in area of focus with a regular and consistent online presence.
  • Respond to student questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Grade student work in a timely manner.
  • Successfully complete Best Practices in Online Teaching training modules.
  • Act as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by partnering with colleagues to disciple students and help them grow intellectually and spiritually.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree required with at least 18 graduate-level credits in the discipline applied to teach.
  • Bachelor’s degree may meet minimum qualifications for teaching certain technology courses depending upon equivalent experience.
  • Previous teaching experience with online instruction preferred.
  • Teaching assignments are available on an as-needed basis, dependent upon class size and semester.
  • Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and uphold Northwestern’s mission and values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to integrate Christian worldview into classroom instruction.
  • Skilled in interacting with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency, including use of online teaching platforms.
  • Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout employment.

Work Environment:
The work environment involves working for a suburban, Christian university alongside those with a demonstrated commitment and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Benefits:

Adjunct Faculty pay is $816 per credit. Pay at Northwestern is determined by a combination of job-related factors, including internal/external pay equity and candidate qualifications/experience.
