The Social Media Assistant (SMA) at COCA is critical in promoting Tallahassee/Leon County arts & culture locally and out-of-county. This contract position requires between ten (10) to twenty (20) hours per week. The SMA will research & attend local arts & culture events, curate compelling content to increase COCA's social media presence, engagement, and tourism reach, and assist the Marketing & Communications Manager with social media strategy. The SMA is instrumental in creating & publishing content, maintaining COCA's social media campaigns, meeting social media goals, servicing tourism needs, and monitoring post analytics throughout COCA's social channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, etc. The SMA will report to the Marketing & Communications Manager and work with all COCA staff, interns, and volunteers at various arts & culture events and COCA-related appearances. An ideal candidate will be well-spoken, consumer-driven, detail-oriented, service-focused, tech-savvy, and community-minded and enjoy working in a creative, unique, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  1. Content Creation & Management (40%)
    Attending local arts & culture events to create & post content for social media campaigns, ads, miscellaneous assets, and organic content, including graphics, photos, videos/reels, etc.
    Schedule various content for publishing to increase engagement to its maximum audience based on social media strategies.
    Update social media profiles & content that no longer aligns with the COCA brand identity.
  2. Monitor platforms with trends & metrics (25%)
    Research and brainstorm trending content with the Marketing & Communications Manager, identify popular trends, sounds, video transitions, and determine which work within COCA's brand ethos.
    Schedule posts, observe followers' responses, reply to comments, and other forms of engagement on social media platforms.
  3. Assisting with Social Media Strategies (20%)
    Identify target audiences and brand moments for content engagement through demographic analysis, competitive analysis, and the interests of individuals who follow.
    Outline steps with the Marketing & Communications Manager to improve and encourage consumer leads, including increasing COCA membership, newsletter subscriptions, etc.
  4. Identifying influencers for collaboration (15%)
    Assist in outreach to local and regional influencers, connecting to reach the target tourism demographic.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communication, or a related field
  • Minimum one to two years of content creation experience. Experience with an arts & culture nonprofit organization is preferred
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok
  • Proficient in Premiere Pro, Capcut, or similar software
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
