Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in professional video production, and multimedia equipment at the industrial, educational, or broadcast level.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Formal education beyond high school or a technical school certification desirable.
  2. Successful experience providing multimedia customer service in a fast-paced academic environment.
  3. Proven ability to coordinate the work of a technical team, deliver professional customer service, and manage multiple simultaneous work assignments.
  4. Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical process issues.
  5. Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to work with a range of constituents and to develop solutions to service problems in a client-friendly manner.
  7. Significant experience in all aspects of video production with an emphasis on live streaming and PTZ cameras and operation.
  8. Demonstrated skill and experience in setting up and operating sound systems with digital consoles and mixing live events.
  9. Knowledge of a range of computer software and operating systems is preferred.

There are two openings available with the following two schedules:

  1. M-F, 11am-7pm
  2. Tu-Sa, 11am-7pm

Position Description:

The Senior Media Technician - Events:

  1. Supports faculty and other clients with multimedia in classrooms and event spaces; records a variety of meetings and events.
  2. Operates video, audio, and multimedia equipment in multi-camera live productions.
  3. Operates professional video cameras, lensing, lighting, and camera movement supports.
  4. Operates microphones, consoles, and audio software to produce clean, balanced recordings.
  5. Sets up and operates sound reinforcement systems for optimal sound quality.
  6. Coordinates the work of the technical team assigned to the event.
  7. Responsible for live streaming and recording on various platforms.
  8. Prepares, transports, sets up and operates equipment during events.
  9. Assists with media uploads, equipment inventory, and infrastructure maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and swiftly transport equipment across campus.

Working Conditions:

This position works on Cambridge campus locations, performance venues, and the ESS main office for event preparation and virtual event production.

Work Format:

This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. Evening, weekend work, and overtime may be required.
