  • Collaborates with the Parish Director and Director of Liturgy on the vision for the liturgical year, liturgical season, and sacramental celebrations.
  • Oversees, plans, and provides music for all liturgies including weekend, weekday, school liturgies, penance services, baptisms, etc.
  • Directs and accompanies choirs.
  • Maintains and updates worship hymnals and worship aides.
  • Fosters parishioner participation in music. Recruits, screens, trains, and enriches cantors and choir members.
  • Plans and coordinates practices and rehearsals.
  • Documents readings, songs, petitions, etc., for each Mass and service as a reference. Ensures copyright and licensing requirement permissions for music.
  • Ensures organ, piano, and other instruments are maintained, repaired, and tuned as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings and other ministry meetings at the request of the Parish Director.
  • Prepares presider scripts for all liturgies and other worship aides as needed, including funerals and weddings.
  • Ensures qualified substitutes are enlisted when absent for Masses/services, funerals, weddings, etc.
  • Collaborates with other staff and acts as a resource for parish groups.
  • Attends respective Archdiocesan and Deanery workshops/programs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; use hands; reach with hands and arms.
  • Close vision is required for paperwork and computer.
  • Able to utilize computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
  • This role functions in an office environment and uses standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift 5 pounds.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

K: Knowledge

  • Experience leading Catholic liturgy, including liturgical documents through music.
  • Knowledge of the Roman Missal, lectionary, liturgical year, liturgical norms and regulations, and liturgical tradition and practice.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the State of Wisconsin.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.

S: Skills

  • Professional working attitude and collaborative approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Performance skills for keyboard and/or other musical instruments and voice.

A: Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
