TITLE: Elementary Music Teacher
LOCATION: Caruthers

JOB GOAL:
To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able and responsible members of society.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum.
- Work a full duty day in the assigned location.
- Assess student abilities related to educational goals and outcomes.
- Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional strategies and activities.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and other school areas.
- Communicate instructional expectations and student progress to students and parents.
- Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation.
- Participate in planning effective instructional goals and methods with other personnel.
- Engage in professional growth and development activities.
- Document student progress through maintaining records and reports.
- Ensure a conducive learning environment.
- Participate in extracurricular activities as requested.
- Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students.
- Possess knowledge of content, curriculum, and instructional methods.
- Establish effective relationships with students, parents, and peers.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Kansas teaching certificate in area of instructional responsibility.
- English as a Second Language endorsement preferred.
COMMUNICATION: Maintain communication with teachers, school personnel, and parents to meet educational needs of students.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and talk or hear. May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the KCKPS Board of Education policy.
