Elementary Music Teacher - SY24/25

TITLE: Elementary Music Teacher

LOCATION: Caruthers

JOB GOAL:

To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able and responsible members of society.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum.
  • Work a full duty day in the assigned location.
  • Assess student abilities related to educational goals and outcomes.
  • Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional strategies and activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom and other school areas.
  • Communicate instructional expectations and student progress to students and parents.
  • Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation.
  • Participate in planning effective instructional goals and methods with other personnel.
  • Engage in professional growth and development activities.
  • Document student progress through maintaining records and reports.
  • Ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities as requested.
  • Attend IEP meetings for IDEA students.
  • Possess knowledge of content, curriculum, and instructional methods.
  • Establish effective relationships with students, parents, and peers.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Kansas teaching certificate in area of instructional responsibility.
  • English as a Second Language endorsement preferred.

COMMUNICATION: Maintain communication with teachers, school personnel, and parents to meet educational needs of students.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and talk or hear. May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the KCKPS Board of Education policy.
