Elementary Music Teacher 2024-25 School Year

JOB TITLE: Certified Elementary Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator

JOB SUMMARY: To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic, social, and emotional potential within the job assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in content area/grade level or related discipline applicable to the teaching assignment; a current Idaho Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsement; demonstrated ability to accomplish the duties and responsibilities listed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement an instructional program tailored to meet the unique needs, interests, and abilities of students in music education, aligning with the District's approved music curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  2. Lead the learning process to help students achieve curriculum, department, school, and District music education goals.
  3. Foster open communication and collaborative relationships with school administrators, students, parents, and colleagues to support the growth and development of students in music education.
  4. Create a stimulating classroom environment conducive to musical learning, considering the maturity and interests of students and utilizing resources provided by the District effectively.
  5. Establish clear objectives for music lessons, units, and projects based on Idaho State Standards, communicating these objectives effectively to students and producing written evidence of preparation upon request.
  6. Integrate Idaho State Standards into music education practice, selecting instructional materials and methods that best support the achievement of curriculum goals and the mastery of musical concepts.
  7. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations, documenting student progress and achievement in music education.
  8. Actively participate in staff meetings, Professional Learning Communities, and serve on committees to collaboratively plan instructional goals, strategies, and resources for music education.
  9. Ensure the safety and security of students, equipment, materials, and facilities during music education activities, demonstrating proficiency in emergency procedures as needed.
  10. Communicate effectively and positively with staff, parents, district personnel, and others involved in music education, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
  11. Adhere to school policies and procedures, following the established chain of command, and maintain ethical and confidential conduct in all aspects of employment as a music education teacher.
