Immunization Technical Director (MOMENTUM)

MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (the project) applies best practices and explores innovations to increase equitable immunization coverage in USAID-supported countries. The project is USAID’s flagship technical assistance mechanism for immunization and is active in 12 countries. It builds countries’ capacity to identify and overcome barriers to reaching zero-dose and underimmunized children and older populations with life-saving vaccines and other integrated health services.


The Immunization Technical Director provides strategic technical leadership to the M-RITE project to oversee the design, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of interventions leading to sustainable and equitable immunization coverage with high-quality services. They are a member of the senior management team and provide critical input to the technical vision and direction of the project.


Responsibilities

  1. Provide overall technical oversight of and encourage innovation and technical excellence in program activities and performance.
  2. Develop technical approaches that bring together multiple areas of expertise (including human-centered design, social and behavior change, health system strengthening, strategic partnerships, supply chain management, active use of data, etc.) to achieve project results and advance equity in immunization.
  3. Supervise a team of project staff with expertise in immunization and other relevant areas to ensure the successful implementation of a cohesive technical portfolio.
  4. Design and oversee efforts for continuous updating of technical and other staff on global immunization policies and strategies.
  5. Work closely with the Director of Country Programs and country support teams to ensure cohesion between country program technical activities and global priorities.
  6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with global and regional immunization partners.
  7. Represent M-RITE on relevant global and regional working groups related to immunization.
  8. Provide technical oversight to the development of global workplan activities and contribute to monitoring progress.
  9. Represent the project’s technical expertise to USAID by participating in meetings and events.
  10. Provide technical and strategic guidance on the documentation and dissemination of project results.

Competencies

  1. Extensive expertise in global immunization across multiple lower and middle-income countries (LMICs).
  2. Experience in the design, implementation, management, and monitoring of programs to support immunization.
  3. Significant experience working within USAID/USG-funded projects.
  4. Demonstrated leadership, management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills.
  5. Proven senior expertise in developing and implementing effective partnerships.
  6. Ability to collaborate with experienced qualified colleagues with diverse expertise.
  7. Experience supervising technical staff.
  8. Excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  9. Highly effective public speaking and presentation experience.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. Education: MPH or related Master’s degree.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in immunization and public health, including 6 years on global immunization projects funded by USAID/USG.
  3. Travel: Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
  4. Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Fluency in French is desirable.
