Part-Time Instructor, Creative Writing, Spring 2025
The Creative Writing Program, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Spring 2025 semester to teach creative writing surveys, upper-level, and graduate courses focused on specific themes or topics. The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to:
- Preparing course material;
- Creating and posting a course syllabus;
- Presenting material during the assigned course times;
- Holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students;
- Responding to student e-mails;
- Conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner;
- Submitting final grades.
Course appointments may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.
