The position is responsible for assisting with the operations of the South Bend-Elkhart campus library during service hours that may include evening and weekend hours. In the absence of the Library Director and the campus Librarian, the Library Assistant will maintain effective Library services. The position reports to the Campus Librarian or Library Director.

Assists students and faculty with the use of library resources, including computers and computer applications, the print management system, and audio/visual equipment, and resolving problems with these resources as directed.

Supervises library work-study students assigned evening and weekend hours in the absence of the Library Director and campus Librarian.

Checks-in and maintains materials in the library's physical collections, shelves books and other library materials.

Gathers and reports in-library usage statistics and online resources usage statistics as assigned by the Library Director.

Works with the Library Director to meet campus library service objectives following accepted/established library practices. Enforces college and library policies and procedures. Maintains library equipment.

Compensation: $15/ hr.

Associate degree (e.g. Library Technical Assistant) or relevant degree with work experience required. Proficient at typing and computer skills; knowledge of various software packages (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe, PowerPoint), and modern office technology. Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of professional library practices and procedures.
