Position Summary
The University of Idaho seeks to hire a Full Professor for a tenured fiscal year Area Extension Educator appointment to serve as 4-H Director. This serves as the faculty appointment classification. Rank of Full Professor and Tenure will be awarded only if the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws. Administrative Summary
The University of Idaho, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, UI Extension 4-H Youth Development unit is seeking a faculty member for a 100% administrative role as the state 4-H Director. The successful candidate will have achieved the rank of full professor and tenure or its equivalent at an accredited university or will have established a professional record at an institution that does not award professorial rankings or tenure to Extension professionals sufficient to be awarded full professor and tenure at the University of Idaho. The UI Extension State 4-H Youth Development Director provides overall effective Extension administrative and visionary leadership for all areas of the statewide UI Extension 4-H Youth Development programs. The director provides programmatic leadership for program development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as leadership to develop and implement long-term Idaho 4-H vision, mission and strategic plan. They will manage hiring, direct supervision for 9 faculty members and 7 staff personnel, evaluation, salary recommendations and promotion and/or tenure of assigned faculty and staff personnel. They will manage 4-H Youth Development budgets and seek external funding to support high priority 4-H Youth Development programs. The director reports to the Associate Dean/Director of UI Extension and served on the Extension Administrative Leadership Team, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences or University committees as requested and will represent UI Extension 4-H Youth Development to internal and external audiences on state, regional and national committees. This position receives an administrative stipend which is a percentage of the base faculty salary to do this work.
Contingency Description
At the University of Idaho, all academic administrative positions require 60 days written notice to reassign the administrative duties. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event they are no longer serving in this administrative role, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may change this agreement and the employee may return to their faculty appointment within the unit, upon 60 days written notice. That means, if the administrative duties are reassigned, the 20% administrative stipend associated with this role would be removed and the remaining would be the faculty base salary. The base salary considers credit given for their years of service along with any increases awarded to the faculty position during the time served in the administrative role.

Qualifications
Minimum Education/Degree Required

Required Qualifications
- An earned Ph.D or Ed.D in an area relevant to UI Extension 4-H Youth Development.
- Must hold the rank of full professor and tenure or their equivalent at an accredited university extension program, or a professional record that would qualify for full professor and tenure at the University of Idaho.
- Five or more years of programmatic 4-H leadership work experience with 4-H Youth Development at the county, district, state, regional, and national levels.
- Experience with increasingly intricate goals and objectives with high-level leadership, communication, vision, and management.
- Experience with administrative and leadership in an organization with responsibilities for budgeting, financial planning, personnel management, strategic planning, and critical decision making.
- Experience working in a team, management and promotion of programs and resources as well as experience working with a variety of people.
- Experience with leading a team, empowering others to succeed, fostering respect, building pride in the accomplishment of shared goals and feeds upon two-way communication.
- Experience in securing external funding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experiences in designing, implementing, delivering, and evaluating community based, volunteer delivered outreach education program for youth and adult audiences.
- Positive national reputation as evidenced by appropriate service.
- Experience in leading multi-state or national committees.
