Position Summary

JOB SUMMARY: The Digital Content Specialist I is responsible for overseeing the design of the website and its content along with the management of designs and post for Gadsden State's social media presence. In addition, assist department with other needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Oversee all Gadsden State websites. Create other websites as necessary. Monitor and report search engine analytics and website analytics to maximize traffic to College websites. Run the College social media accounts and serve in advisory/backup capacity on subaccounts, including creating and curating content, responding to inquiries, and ad placement. Serve as photographer for College events (such as Honors Day, Graduation, ribbon cuttings, student engagement, sporting events, theatre productions, signing events, etc.), document President's activities, take headshots for employees, athletic teams, and student accolades. Take photos and videos for use on websites, in advertising campaigns and on social medial accounts. Organize and maintain the online photo gallery and internal photo archives. Create and edit videos to promote the College, individual programs, and community partnerships. Complete graphic design projects as needed, including logos, flyers, t-shirts, infographics, etc. Serve as a backup to the Public Relations Director for urgent communications with media, the public, and internal College administration during crises or emergencies. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of postsecondary education from an accredited institution with a minimum of 15 semester hours in graphic design and a minimum of three (3) years of multimedia experience

OR

two (2) years postsecondary education from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years graphic design and/or multimedia experience. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, Premiere Pro). Working knowledge of HTML language with the ability to use web editing/design software as well as work within a content management system and train users. Minimum of three (3) years of multimedia experience OR minimum of five (5) years graphic design and/or multimedia experience. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to maintain continuity of themes, design layout, streamline navigation and increase online presence to potential students. Pleasing personality; enthusiastic, positive attitude; evidence of trustworthiness and ethical conduct; effective human relations skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments on time and in a calm and professional manner. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Knowledge and use of digital cameras and photo editing software. Knowledge of different file formats and resolutions to be used for specific purposes (printing and digital). Knowledge of copyright laws. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to utilize email systems to communicate information. Ability to respond to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work. Ability to focus on detail. Willingness and desire to learn and apply new skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and follow through to complete assignments.

Salary Schedule E-4, Grade 05 ($34,298 - $51,793). Salary will be based on VERIFIED education and years of VERIFIED related experience that is stated on the initial job application only.

For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position. Sick Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Annual Leave All regular full-time non-instructional staff earn annual leave per month. Professional Leave Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. Tuition Assistance This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.
