Note: Hours range from 15-25 per week, 1-2 days onsite a week. Candidate will work with manager on schedule.
Job Overview
Position: Copy and Production Editor, Harvard Magazine
Reports to: Editor
Responsibilities
- Copyediting the entire print magazine, including substantive content editing, fact-checking, grammar, diction, and stylistic consistency.
- Editing all online editorial content and special promotional materials such as ads for the magazine’s website and fundraising activities.
- Managing print production by forwarding final pages to the outside proofreader and collating corrections from editors’ reviews and revisions.
- Reviewing and proofing online editorial content for style and accuracy before posting.
- Supervising and assisting contributing editors in producing copy and initial layouts for class notes and obituaries departments.
- Verifying degree statuses of individuals for class notes, proofing and updating contributing editors’ copy, and acquiring, assigning, and occasionally writing parts of subsidiary sections.
- Coordinating layouts with edited texts for both class notes and obituaries sections, serving as the primary contact with Harvard and Radcliffe class secretaries.
