Radio Hotel located in Washington Heights is seeking a full-time experienced Maintenance Engineer.

The Radio Tower & Hotel is a 221-room hotel, mixed-use high rise, located at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in the Washington Heights area in Northern Manhattan. The Hotel incorporates the unique look and feel of the Washington Heights neighborhood, catering to both the local Latin community and international travelers looking for affordable yet stylish rooms below the steep asking prices of downtown Manhattan hotels. This 22-story building combines hotel, retail, and office functions in vibrantly stacked blocks, reflecting the vivacious character of the neighborhood.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand and respond to all guests' needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance, preventive maintenance and repairs throughout the property including electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, carpentry, painting and other types of work that the individual has been properly trained to perform.
  • Be familiar with standards established by the Director of Engineering.
  • Conduct daily inspections of areas and equipment as assigned and perform tasks required to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintain all areas in safe and sanitary conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with housekeeping and front desk staff to ensure the best experience for guests.
  • Follow all company safety standards, including proper equipment handling to avoid injury to yourself and others.
  • Handle, store and label all hazardous substances according to state and federal regulations.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and interpret simple blueprints related to property maintenance.
  • Experience with basic hand tools and power tools used to perform assigned duties.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the state.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and current laws governing handling of hazardous substances.
  • Trained in air conditioning and refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems and equipment typically found in a hotel property.
  • Prefer at least two years’ experience at a resort or hotel.
