General Information:

The Breeze is hiring its 2024-25 Breeze TV Studio Director. The student selected for this position will help lead a broadcast news show that airs live. Position begins April 1, with training during the weeks immediately after spring break. Must be able to be back to campus two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall semester.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. In charge of all production staff and coordination of staff during the newscast.
  2. Train the production crew throughout the week, so they are prepared for live productions.
  3. Coordinate who on the production crew works each position on a weekly basis.
  4. Work with the production crew to ensure each member is aware of what is happening within the newscast and their individual responsibilities.
  5. Coordinate with the Executive Producer on the show's vision for that week and figure out ways to make that vision happen.

Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of what a newscast should look like.
  2. Knowledge of all studio positions.
  3. Ability to lead a team.
  4. Ability to work through stressful situations.
  5. Awareness of what is going on in the show for that week.
  6. Ability to adapt on a moment's notice (either fix or work with mistakes during the show).
  7. Ability to edit video and existing knowledge of the software used.
  8. Knowledge of journalistic ethics.
  9. Knowledgeable enough to guide and teach new members.

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate). Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
