Job Description: With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, participate in all phases of mixed-use projects, including mixed use regeneration, urban revitalization, brownfield redevelopment, affordable and market-rate housing projects; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating and documenting sustainable design principles; prepare sketches, working drawings, and architectural detail specifications for concept design presentations and presentation packages using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling (BIM) software; assist in responding to Requests for Qualifications (RFQ's), Requests for Proposals (RFP's) and design competitions; prepare design guidelines, capacity studies, concept plans, development plans, and entitlement packages; build physical models for design development and presentations using laser cutting technologies and 3-D printing techniques; develop designs and produce design presentations using Revit and BIM software; collaborate on concept alternatives, studies, and development requiring 3D digital massing, floor plans, space plans, building elevations, sections, and perspectives; prepare client and public presentations, workshops, and meetings by using 2D/3D CAD, building information modeling programs (including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Enscape), analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; analyze client needs and utilize independent critical thinking to develop design approaches for residential and mixed-use housing projects from low-rise to high-rise construction, from schematic design through construction administration, including modifications to existing structural systems, space planning, custom detailing; research for building code compliance, barrier free compliance, and integration of sustainable concepts into projects; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and site survey of existing conditions & other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to site conditions, building structure, HVAC, electrical and plumbing system, fire protection and materials for intricate detailing; coordinate conceptual design drawings with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), structural, A/V, food service/kitchen, site, landscape, code, acoustical, sustainability, and lighting consultants to incorporate engineering systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation; develop document production using BIM software to create floor plans, building and envelope sections, construction details, schedules and 3D models for consultant coordination and quality control; assist in the evaluation and management of bids, estimates, and contract budgets, coordinating with project managers, clients, consultants, and contractors to respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications; coordinate with and represent the firm to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having authority over projects; conduct construction administration via site visits and issuance of field reports, and detailed review of subcontractor's shop drawings, submittals/cut sheets on materials & equipment, review of structural construction for architectural coordination, HVAC system layout and installation, installation of lighting fixtures, and installation of electrical equipment. Job Requirements: Bachelor of Architecture (5 year) or foreign equivalent and 5 years of progressive experience to include participating in all phases of mixed-use projects, including mixed use regeneration, urban revitalization, brownfield redevelopment, affordable and market-rate housing projects, hospitality projects, and space planning projects for K-12 and Science and Technology market sectors; developing document production using BIM software to create floor plans, schedules and 3D models for consultant coordination and quality control; preparing client and public presentations, workshops, and meetings by using 2D/3D CAD, building information modeling programs (including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup), analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; coordinating conceptual design drawings with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), structural, A/V, food service/kitchen, site, landscape, code, acoustical, sustainability, and lighting consultants to incorporate engineering systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation; producing presentations and surveys for client workshops and updating graphic library using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PowerPoint; assisting Sector Leader in responding to Requests for Proposals (RFP's) by preparing capacity studies, concept plans; incorporating feedback, including redlines, on architecture drawings as directed by Project Architect; developing exterior wall details, interior details, door and window details and roof details; participating in meetings with client, consultants, and contractor alongside the Project Architect and assisting in preparation of meeting minutes; implementing building code related requirements under the direction of the project architect; conducting construction administration via site visits and issuance of field reports, and detailed review of subcontractor's shop drawings, submittals/cut sheets on materials & equipment, review of structural construction for architectural coordination, HVAC system layout and installation, installation of lighting fixtures, and installation of electrical equipment.
