TITLE: Content Strategist

PURPOSE: To drive exceptional brand visibility and engagement for PMG + PMG's clients through innovative social media strategies, influential collaborations, and compelling content creation.

SCOPE: Expert Social Media Management, Creative and Impactful Content Development, Copywriting expertise, Strategic Client Consultation, Advanced Data Analysis, Photography, and Digital Marketing Innovation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Excellence in Social Media Portfolio Management, Creative Content Creation, Strategic Client Communications, Data-Driven Decision Making, and Continuous Skill Enhancement.

MANAGER: CEO, Director of Client Success + Director of Marketing Services 

DESCRIPTION: In the role of Content Strategist, a vital full-time position at PMG, you will contribute 40 hours per week. PMG operates on a digital-first philosophy, favoring remote work with periodic in-person team gatherings, on-site asset creation/photography/videography and client meetings mostly in or around Carmel, IN and sometimes the greater Indianapolis area.


ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Devise and execute unique social media strategies for a diverse range of platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, and upcoming platforms, aligning with each client's specific branding and objectives.
  • Brainstorm, pitch, and implement innovative content ideas tailored to each client’s brand, audience, and objectives.
  • Master content creation using a suite of digital tools, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator), Loomly, CapCut, Grammarly, and others, to produce high-quality, visually engaging, and strategically aligned visual and written content.
  • Manage social media calendars with precision, ensuring a balance of scheduled content and real-time engagement opportunities.
  • Perform audits of client social media platforms + their competitors to assess performance, identify areas of improvement/opportunity + provide recommendations for strategic growth.
  • Interpret social media analytics using platforms like Loomly Analytics, Google Analytics, Meta Insights, and X Analytics to inform strategy, develop actionable insights, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients.
  • Lead and assist in client discussions, offering expert insights on the latest social media trends, influencer marketing impact, and content strategy effectiveness.
  • Capture high-quality video and photo content for client social media accounts, blogs, websites, etc. via on-location video and photo shoots. The majority of shoots will take place during working hours, but could require after-hours or weekend shoots.
  • Monitor social accounts for assigned clients on a daily basis to ensure account health + integrity.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES:

  • Video Production and Editing: Proficiency in creating and editing video content, using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CapCut to produce compelling visual stories suitable for various social media platforms, with proficiency in creating high-impact content for Stories, Reels, or similar short-lived formats. 
  • Photography and Image Editing: Skills in photography and image editing to create high-quality, visually appealing content, using tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Graphic Design skills with the ability to create custom, personalized content that enhances social media posts and aligns with brand identity.
  • Copywriting and Storytelling: Strong copywriting skills to craft engaging and persuasive narratives tailored to different social media platforms and audiences, such as crafting compelling, on-brand captions, headlines, and call-to-action statements. 
  • SEO and Content Optimization: Knowledge of SEO best practices to optimize social media content for search engines and increase visibility.
  • Community Management: Ability to build and nurture online communities, responding to comments, and fostering a positive environment.
  • Crisis Management: Skills in handling social media crises, including strategy development and rapid response to mitigate negative impact.
  • Accessibility and Inclusiveness: Understanding of how to create content that is accessible and inclusive, considering diverse audiences.
  • Influencer Marketing: Ability to incorporate influencer marketing into social media strategy, when appropriate, conducting comprehensive research and fostering relationships with influencers.
  • AI and Automation Tools: Familiarity with AI-powered tools for additional content creation, analytics, and social media automation, such as ChatGPT.
  • Content Lifecycle Management: Skills in planning, creating, and optimizing evergreen content to ensure long-term value and engagement.
  • Advanced Editorial Calendar Planning: Expertise in creating long-term, multi-platform editorial calendars that align with campaign goals.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Demonstrated ability to pivot strategies in response to platform changes, audience shifts, or campaign feedback.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with advertising regulations, such as FTC guidelines for sponsored content.
  • iPhone Proficiency: Must own an iPhone and demonstrate expertise in using its photo and video capabilities, including capturing high-quality images, recording and editing videos, and utilizing advanced features like adjusting FPS and Camera Quality, along with capturing in Portrait Mode, Cinematic Mode, and shooting Live Photos.
  • Basic Camera Knowledge: Familiarity with DSLR cameras and a basic understanding of manual settings such as ISO, aperture, and shutter speed to achieve professional-grade visual content.
  • Lighting and Composition Knowledge: Understanding of basic lighting techniques (e.g., natural light, ring lights) and composition principles (e.g., rule of thirds, leading lines) to enhance the visual appeal of photos and videos.
  • Live Content Creation Ability: Comfortable capturing and streaming live video content directly from an iPhone for events.
  • Audio Recording Awareness: Knowledge of capturing clear audio during video shoots using built-in iPhone microphones or external accessories such as clip-on mics.
  • Familiarity with Tripods and Stabilization Tools: Familiarity with using accessories like tripods, gimbals, or handheld stabilizers to produce smooth, professional-quality video footage.
  • File Management and Organization Skills: Familiarity with efficient file transfer methods between iPhone, cameras, and editing tools (e.g., AirDrop, SD cards, or cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox) to streamline content workflow.
  • Google Drive Proficiency: Strong ability to organize, manage, and collaborate on files using Google Drive, including Docs, Sheets, and shared folders.


DIGITAL ADVERTISING:

  • Oversee and implement targeted social media advertising campaigns using tools like Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Analyze ad performance with platform-specific analytics and adjust strategies for maximum impact and ROI.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • Actively pursue learning opportunities in the latest digital marketing trends, including attending webinars, workshops, and industry conferences.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, journalism, communications, video production, business or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in content creation, digital coordinator, or a similar role within an advertising agency or related industry
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work
  • Proficient in Google Business Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Indiana, as needed
