Position Summary:
The Department of Radio TV Film at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is seeking applications for a Broadcast and IT Engineer. This position provides routine maintenance and repair of Radio TV Film equipment and facilities under the supervision of the Broadcast Operations Manager. Responsibilities include providing engineering services, technical guidance, and instruction in support of all academic classes and ongoing student productions. Additionally, the role includes providing technical support and maintenance for the university FM radio station, cable TV station, and academic production and post-production facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Installs, operates, and maintains studio and remote production equipment including computers, servers, and networks to ensure high quality programming and compliance with FCC regulations.
- Creates and maintains accurate documentation for operating procedures.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problems. Makes recommendations for technical and security improvements.
- Supervises student broadcast activities, including instructing students in the use of technical equipment such as remote cameras, video recorders, editing equipment, and remote radio equipment. Oversees equipment checkout to staff and students, scheduling and issuing equipment.
- Plans for, sets up equipment, and attends live remote broadcasts as assigned including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/BS in engineering, computer science, radio TV film or a related field.
- Experience in digital technology for broadcast and/or production.
- Demonstrated knowledge of server-based and broadcast IT infrastructure.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry equipment short distances, and be able to bend, crawl and kneel behind and beneath equipment installations.

Preferred:
- Experience with streaming technologies and media content delivery systems.
- Experience with Radio and TV systems such as ENCO DAD and Wheatnet-IP.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronic systems and equipment.
- Professional media experience.
