About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Video Editor & Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This role combines strong technical editing skills with exceptional project management expertise, with a focus on producing high-quality video content within the scientific and engineering domains. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with a passion for storytelling, a deep understanding of video production workflows, and a strong foundation in After Effects and scientific/engineering illustration.
This is a Contractor role.
Responsibilities: Video Editing & Production: Edit and produce high-quality video content across various formats (e.g., explainer videos, product demos, training videos, social media content). Utilize professional video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) to edit footage, add visual effects, and create compelling narratives. Leverage advanced After Effects skills to create stunning motion graphics, animations, and visual effects, particularly within the context of scientific and engineering illustrations. Collaborate with creative teams to develop and refine video concepts and storyboards. Incorporate motion graphics, animations, and sound design to enhance video engagement. Ensure all video projects adhere to brand guidelines and style standards. Maintain high-quality audio mixes and incorporate sound design elements. Stay abreast of the latest trends in video editing, post-production, and motion graphics.
Project Management & Coordination: Lead and manage all phases of video production projects, from initial concept and planning to final delivery. Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and budgets. Track project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively address any challenges. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and external vendors. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standard.
Technical & Educational Content Expertise: Ability to translate complex technical information into engaging and easily understandable video presentations. Experience working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and refine technical information. Willingness to understand engineering concepts and terminology. Experience in developing engaging and effective educational video content. Ability to identify and address the learning needs of niche audiences. Knowledge of design principles and best practices.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Film, Video Production, Communications, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of professional experience as a Video Editor. 3+ years of experience in video production project management. Proven portfolio demonstrating exceptional video editing and creative skills, with a strong emphasis on motion graphics and animations, particularly within the scientific and engineering context. Extensive experience in producing technical and/or educational video content. Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
Technical Skills: Fluency in Adobe After Effects is essential. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator. Experience with other video editing software (e.g., Final Cut Pro) is a plus. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Monday.com, Jira). Strong understanding of video formats, codecs, and delivery specifications.
Other Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. Strong work ethic and a passion for producing high-quality video content.
