RESPONSIBILITIES
We're seeking an Experienced Design Manager who is skilled, collaborative, and creative to lead our growing team. At HDR Remodeling, you have the unique opportunity to see your architectural vision come to life and to be part of the entire process of architectural design to construction. You are not afraid to express your design ideas and opinions to ensure that the clients needs are met and to contribute to the overall success of the project. This role is ideal for a passionate and driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with senior leaders, principals, and high-profile clients.
This is a full-time position working at our Emeryville office (onsite role).
What Youll Do:
- Manage client communications, project timelines, design/build implementation, and meeting schedules, and project planning.
- Lead the majority of design work, including CAD modeling and Design for assigned projects.
- Balance aesthetic goals with budgetary considerations.
- Collaborate with a team dedicated to exceeding client expectations.
What Were Looking For:
- A degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field is preferred. Some coursework and/or years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5-7 years of experience managing a design team (required)
- 3-5 years of experience in designing with a practical knowledge of residential remodeling, creating floor plans, and drawing elevations and perspectives is highly desired.
- Proficient in CAD Drafting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with team members, clients, vendors, or other third parties and within the community.
- Creative imagination and practical understanding of construction.
- Ability to lead and inspire the design team.
- Hand drawing skills and good design sense for space planning and finishes selections.
- A collaborative and personable demeanor with a sense of humor.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective systems.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and ability to learn and utilize other company software, such as BuilderTrend, Google Suite, etc.
- Ability to work within timelines and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must be results-focused, detail-oriented, and a self-starter.
- Must work well in a cohesive group and take feedback, share ideas, and shift priorities well.
- Must be an effective problem solver.
- Able to maintain clear, consistent systems and devise new ones where necessary.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of industry trends, construction, and design best practices.
- Observe strict confidentiality regarding all information obtained in the course of employment.
- Proven track record working with all levels of an organization, vendors, and clients.
- Maintain a valid drivers license and state-required insurance.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.

Experience:
- AutoCAD: 7 years (preferred)
- Sketchup: 7 years (preferred)
- 5-7 years of experience managing a design team (required)
Compensation and Benefits:
