Middleton City Lifestyle is looking for a local editor who is responsible for managing the editorial themes for the publication. This person will have a variety of responsibilities. Most content creators work, on average, 20 to 40 hours a month. The position is responsible for supervising the magazine’s freelance writers and photographers as well as organizing all editorial content for the monthly publication and getting all editorial content uploaded to our CRM.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Plans and assigns Photography/Editorial for all issues
2. Ensures all photography/editorial meets defined specifications, including deadline and style
3. Manages relationships with freelance contractors (writers and photographers) and coordinates with the publisher
4. Keeps track of payments due to freelance contractors and submits this information to the publisher monthly

What to Expect:

1. Managing content on a monthly basis and assigning freelance work or completing articles yourself.
2. Partnership with local photographers and freelance writers to assign and ensure that the creative direction of a previously determined layout can be completed via word count specifications and photographic elements
3. A byline in print and online and masthead recognition
4. Working with the local publisher to ensure that the magazine content is successful and hits the target demographic of readers and advertisers.
5. The opportunity to write about a variety of local and inspiring content including new eateries, unique events, hometown celebrities, charitable organizations, advertising partners and more.
6. The opportunity to work with local vendors to create beautiful styled shoots and eye-catching imagery
7. Monthly support with our corporate office is provided and guidance on content creation is supplied

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Ability to travel to the publication area is a must
2. Experience in writing, creating content or visually creative work and leadership skills
3. A professional and personable demeanor as you represent the publication during interviews and community research
4. Robust organizational skills as our deadlines are very strict in order to create the high-quality publications that we do on a monthly basis
