Hiring Pay: $19.50/Hour

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Not Eligible for all Benefits, Will Accrue Paid Sick Time

Flexible schedule required

Must be available for evening/weekend work

Work Schedule:

  • One (1) - 19 hour per week position. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends

Essential Duties:

  • Provides professional front-line library public service work using all types of communication resources, including print, non-print (DVDs, audiobooks), Internet and electronic resources.
  • Delivers one-to-one technology instruction and small group technology instruction including supporting patrons in using mobile devices and public computers.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and library customers.
  • Provides reader's advisory assistance.
  • Uses authoritative resources to answer questions and make referrals.
  • Assists full-time Librarians with collection maintenance and programming support.
  • Provides exceptional customer service in person, on phone and by email.
  • Interpreting, explaining and upholding library policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree required or Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited library school preferred. At least one year of experience in a library or related setting providing customer service to adults.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish relationships with the public and provide effective customer service in a professional manner.
  • Skill in proactively using technology to perform job or enhance customer experience.
  • Ability to deliver one-to-one and small group technology instruction.
  • Skill with diverse software applications and ability to learn new technologies independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software as well as Windows and MAC operating systems.
  • Experience with Android and iOS mobile devices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and discretion in performance of duties.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of sources and materials in both print and electronic formats and searching methods and procedures.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a library environment.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and/or push materials including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, tablet, telephone, and e-reader.

Successful candidate will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include:
