Minister of Music
Reports to: Pastor & Personnel Committee
Status: Part-Time
FLSA: Not Exempt
Job Summary
The Minister of Music will oversee the musical offerings to the glory of God at Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) in Arlington, TX.
Essential Functions:
- Provide music and direct the Chancel Choir at the 11:00 am Sunday service. Select appropriate instrumental and choral music to the message and worship.
- Provide music for additional services in consultation with the Worship Committee, especially at Christmas and Lent/Easter.
- Cooperate with the pastor and the Worship Committee in the area of planning and leadership of the music program at WPC.
- Purchase all necessary music and music supplies and hire instrumental and vocal soloists within the Worship budget.
- Provide music for wedding and funeral services as requested, with appropriate minimum compensation determined ahead of time.
- Lead and rehearse the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir, as scheduled.
- Be responsible for maintaining the church’s organ, handbells, and piano.
- Collaborate with the Director for Children and Youth Ministries to support youth & children’s music ministry and special programming.
- Serve as an active leader of the congregation and be a participant in the leadership of the worship of God.
Other Responsibilities:
Participate in staff meetings and Worship Committee meetings as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and programs (email communication)
- Choral direction experience
- Organ & piano mastery
Physical Requirements
Able to get up and down stairs.
Evaluation:
Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor as head of staff and the Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee will review the adequacy of compensation and provide recommendations to the Session.
Salary Range:
$17,000-$20,000
