Plans and implements an instructional program in Vocal Music and provides related educational services for students in grades 6 through 12. Manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as required; carries out a variety of student monitoring and supports activities.
Serves as a Vocal Music education classroom teacher in a high school (grades 9 through 12) or teaches middle school grades (grades 6 through 8). Classes taught may be single grade or multi-grade level, are most often subject oriented, but may be skill or specialty oriented. Some positions work off site or in a combination of off-site and classroom settings. Performs duties within a team or departmental setting, but might work independently in a unique teaching specialty.
Essential Functions
- Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Plans and implements appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials.
- Develops, adapts, modifies, and individualizes educational materials, resources, techniques, methods, and strategies to meet the needs of students.
- Assumes direct responsibility for the development of appropriate behavior of students within the school setting by establishing and maintaining effective discipline and management procedures.
- Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff to maximize learning opportunities.
- Requests assistance of and works with resource personnel, as needed.
- Participates in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
- Ensures continuous communication with parents to keep them informed of a student(s) progress.
- Ensures classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning.
- May sponsor or coordinate extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
Maximum Salary: 102087.00
Minimum Salary: 58895.00
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in music education or eligible for a conditional certification in music.
- Bachelor's degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
- Valid standard professional teaching certificate appropriate to the subject taught.
- Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities.
- Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
Qualified candidates must submit the following:
- Resume that clearly demonstrates the above minimum qualifications.
- Two (2) official transcripts showing conferred degree; two (2) official transcripts from all other colleges attended.
- Three (3) professional references.
- Valid licensure/teaching certificate.
- A copy of Praxis test scores or other state teaching exams pertaining to your certification.
- Official verification of previous full-time teaching experience (if applicable).
