What is the Role?

As part of Loggerhead’s Information Technology (IT) team, the Java Developer will be involved in the full system development life cycle (SDLC) and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise web applications. Handles complex problems independently and demonstrates analytical thinking. Can make judgements and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.

We are looking for a full stack Java Developer to implement modern systems, processes, and products which enhance business and customer-facing platforms and services.

A Day in the Life could include:

  1. Create and enhance Java Spring Boot microservices running on Azure Kubernetes Service.
  2. Participate in writing robust code, documentation, unit, and integration tests.
  3. Use Azure DevOps practices and tools to increase the organization’s ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity.
  4. Work with various Business Analysts and Architects to identify and document technical requirements.
  5. Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
  6. Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
  7. Remain current with new technologies.

What You'll Need to be a Top Candidate:

Requirements:

  1. 7+ years of Java development experience producing business-critical applications, preferably within the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance industry.
  2. 5+ years of microservice development experience using Java and Spring Frameworks.
  3. Expertise in Java. Prefer experience with multiple object-oriented languages. Well versed with design principles and coding best practices.
  4. Experience building, deploying, and supporting containerized applications.
  5. Experience with NoSQL datastores such as Azure CosmosDB or MongoDB in addition to relational databases such as MS SQL.
  6. Proficient with CI/CD practices and Production deployment leveraging GIT and DevOps pipelines and repositories.
  7. Experience designing, building, and consuming APIs with various architectures such as RESTful, Webhook, or GraphQL.
  8. Experience implementing authentication and authorization to protect APIs.
  9. Experience with build tools like Maven or Gradle.
  10. Experience with automated unit tests (i.e. Junit, Mockito, MockMVC) and integration tests.
  11. Experience developing API documentation with tools such as Swagger.
  12. Well versed with IntelliJ and Visual Studio.

Education & Certifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related discipline, or 7 years of related work experience.
