Role: Senior Technical Writer / Procedure Writing

Duration: 12+ Months

Required Location: Midtown New York City (3 days a week Hybrid)

Contract status: W2+

Interview Required: Video and in person

Candidates must be LOCAL to the NEW YORK or NEW JERSEY area and COMMUTE into the office THREE TIMES A WEEK.

Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit technical documentation including procedures, guides, manuals, and workflow diagrams.
  • Conduct interviews with technologists, engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather detailed information about technical processes.
  • Translate technical information into clear and concise documentation accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date repository of technical documents and ensure they align with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that all documentation accurately reflects the processes and infrastructure used within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, technical specifications, and user requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of documentation to ensure it remains current and relevant.
  • Understand and document various technologies, including network infrastructure, servers, databases, cloud platforms, and software applications.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in technical writing, especially in procedure writing for technical audiences.
  • Strong interviewing skills with the ability to extract complex technical information from subject matter experts.
  • High-level understanding of technology infrastructure such as servers, networking, cloud environments, and software systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as MS Word, Confluence, or other content management systems.
  • Familiarity with IT and engineering terminology, processes, and best practices.

Preferred:

  • Experience in IT, software development, or systems engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, compliance documentation, or ITIL frameworks.
