Description
This position supports and works directly with production editors to produce high-quality books, ebooks, and calendars.
RESPONSIBILITIES Copyedit and proofread books and calendars as assigned by production editors, ensuring compliance with the appropriate style sheet, the house style guide, and The Chicago Manual of Style. Assist in the production of ebooks and review them for quality and accuracy. Provide support to the metadata specialist by creating search-inside-the-book files, downloading or uploading files, and placing files on servers for sales and marketing. Work with production editors to prepare files for book reprints. Perform administrative tasks such as copying, scanning, or mailing. Review press releases and other marketing-related materials as needed. Serve as production editor for a limited number of books and calendars. ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Some copyediting and proofreading experience Excellent grammar, fact-checking, and spelling skills Proficiency in typing, word processing, email, and internet Attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously, balance and prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work well with coworkers MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
4-year bachelor's degree or experience in lieu of degree Basic copyediting and proofreading skills Working knowledge of Macintosh software, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Familiarity with Adobe InDesign
