Job Description:

The student worker will be an important part of AFAM's engagement strategy, responsible for maintaining an active social media presence on popular platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, and Blue Sky through the creation of relevant content. The student worker will also help with manning the front office in the absence of office personnel, which will involve answering phone calls and taking messages.

In addition to social media-related tasks, the employee will help with daily operations including gathering mail, preparing textbook packages, and maintaining the office space. Other duties will be assigned relevant to the operations of the AFAM Department.

This is a hybrid position and will require the student to be in the office for 75% of the weekly hours.

Job Requirements:

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current 2025 Spring Term as a student (sophomore or higher in standing) at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring is contingent upon verification of current student status.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in social media writing
  • Proficiency in content creation software such as Photoshop, Canva, InDesign, Premier Pro
  • Knowledge of social media applications
  • Must be able to demonstrate best practices for public social media communication
  • Ability to manage multiple social media platforms
  • Ability to create engaging and dynamic content
  • Ability to communicate in a professional environment

Department Preferences:

  • Current, active involvement in student group(s)
  • Experience in Adobe Spark, Adobe InDesign, Canva, or similar programs for producing event flyers, posters, and advertisements
  • Willingness to act as a student spokesperson for the department
  • Experience with website design and maintenance is a plus
