KPNX-TV Phoenix, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Phoenix is searching for an ambitious, aggressive modern journalist who can work three days a week as a digital producer and two days a week as an on-air general assignment reporter.
This is not an entry-level position. You must have at least three years of full-time work in a commercial or non-profit newsroom where you have worked in an on-air news reporting writing capacity with significant writing experience. Or, you can have three years of being a digital content producer with a background of on-air reporting. The successful applicant will have an excellent sense of news judgment that they can exercise independently.
This position is a news position, but there will be opportunities to lead our digital coverage of sports.
Our digital producers monitor digital audience trends to identify and write engaging local news content that broadens our audience. They are responsible for curating quality content and overseeing the audience experience across all KPNX-TV Phoenix website, mobile, app, streaming and social media platforms. They work as part of the larger content team to break news and tell great stories in a 24/7 news environment. Our on-air reporters are expected to be aggressive, spend time in the field and know how to tell a story. You should be able to find strong pitches and not depend on breaking news for your on-air stories.

The ideal candidate is an avid news consumer and produces compelling content no matter what the platform.
