Job Description

NBC Connecticut is looking for a tv and streaming producer to collaborate with our team of exceptional journalists to create engaging and compelling content for our broadcast and digital platforms.

Essential Functions:

  1. Produce and write assigned segments, which may include digital newscasts.
  2. Pitch compelling story ideas and guest segments.
  3. Participate in daily planning meetings and contribute ideas for news programming based on the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
  4. Work closely with program’s Executive Producer to determine the composition and flow of the newscast, to select video, to write and copy-edit stories.
  5. Make certain program elements abide by NBC Owned Television Stations News Guidelines as well as the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
  6. Generate daily topicals and show graphics.
  7. Be present in control room during news program and communicate with producer, director and production personnel.
  8. Ensure video detail and news rundown is provided to editors and make certain all video is previewed for accuracy.
  9. Use online and social media tools to monitor and report news, find sources and leads for stories.
  10. Monitor mainstream and social media sites for story ideas and competitive intelligence.
  11. Fill in as a producer when needed on other NBC Connecticut newscasts.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 2 years’ experience in newsgathering and/or production.
  2. Experience line-producing newscasts.

  8. Connect with local news in our communities through emails, social media, and news releases.
  9. Demonstrated experience with desktop editing systems.

Requirements:

  3. Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift.
  4. Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT.

  7. Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
